Katie Hopkins Piece New

Dear Ms.Hopkins

Why are these immigrants wrong for wanting to better their lives? There is no common sense behind what you have stated. I will not hesitate to say that I am extremely disgusted by the attitude that you have portrayed towards this situation. The covert comments that you have made about these innocent people are not appreciated by me or any other person that reads what you have stated, One of the comments you made: “What we need are gunships sending these boats back to their own country” is not only suggesting that you oppose a plague of weaponry machines on these people but that you are highly singling out these people. It sounds to me as if you interpret these people as if they are a completely different breed or species, or almost as if they’re extra-terrestrial for that matter.

You described these people as “feral humans” however, your behaviour is no less feral than theirs. The approach that you have towards these people is far worse than feral, and you truly should be ashamed of yourself. At this point you should be questioning yourself, and your purpose as a human being. Simply because you suggest that they get creative where they are however I don’t seem to see how you’re being creative apart from just being a harsh critic. These people are clearly trying to make a better life for themselves and become “creative” due to the harsh conditions that they are struggling to survive in, however there’s people like you that will do all they can to hinder these people’s perseverance and consistency for a brighter future.

The statement you made: “Some of our towns are festering sores, plagued by swarms of migrants and asylum seekers, shelling out benefits like monopoly money” is not only stereotypical but far from accurate. On television when you watch reality shows overlooking residents in the UK on benefits, it’s usually the same English people that you are seeking sympathy for. However the same people that you’re complaining about, are the same people that are doing all they can to do something better with their life. This being the reason why these “immigrants” will be more likely to get a good job and work for their money, because quite it’s seems as if you’re own British People simply cannot be bothered to do so themselves. These people are so eager that they are willing to put their lives on the line to do what they have to do, but enlighten me on what your people on the television claiming benefits are doing? Considering how the immigrants in this country contribute towards the economy, it would be quite unwise to completely obstruct their access to the country. If these immigrants are just as willing and well skilled as the people who claim to be natives, there is no reason as to why they should not be left without a job.

The problem with people who are natives in the country is that they believe they deserve their position as a working native when actually, they take it for granted and start to slack. My point is that if they deserve their so called position as a working person in the UK they should prove this, otherwise people who do will continue to take their position. This will also continue as these people continue to come to London and better the future for themselves and for the economy of the country.

Tottenham Riots Response

On the 4th of August in 2011, Mark Duggan was shot twice and killed by armed forces. There was no complete justification or certified evidence to prove the fact that Mark Duggan was a threat towards the police. It can only be said, therefore, that the action taken by the armed forces to shoot him was not necessary, and all this because one officer thought he saw Mark Duggan reaching to shoot a gun. He was not certain, but he thought he saw a gun. You, however, are quite certain. According to you, the London riots happened because of black people and their natural link with crime. I disagree and I will explain why I do.

In the world that we live in today, the colour of our skin says a lot about us as people. By the colour of our skin, the people around us can make assumptions about who we are, what we are associated with, and where we will be in the future. For black people, unfortunately, what we are associated with is crime. People will do this before even thinking about opening their mouths to communicate with us. Speaking as one of that majority who are stereotyped in this way, I refuse to be labelled in the same category, and I’d like to see the same for my people. You say “What colour is Mark Duggan?” Mark Duggan was black and this is why he was killed. The case concluded that the officer that shot Mark Duggan did not fire shots in belief that Mark Duggan was a threat, and that he did not use lawful force through this action. This leaves no other explanation as to why Mark Duggan was killed. We can only assume that he was killed because of the police’s perception of black people.

Thinking differently and not judging could be the difference between a murderer and an innocent black teenager. Until this happens, when the opposing race look at black people and automatically come up with assumptions there will be a retaliation from the black people who think that it is wrong. Mark Duggan’s death, which was proven necessary by the authorities, will continue to be unjustified until there is a full explanation as to why he needed to be shot and killed. I believe that the colour of Mark Duggan’s skin is the reason as to why he is dead today.

A continuing problem in the UK is where police abuse their rights and treat certain groups of the community unfairly. There has been numerous times where I have been stopped and searched by the police, and I would ask them why and they would only tell me to remain silent or not tell me at all. For every 1 white person stopped there are 17 black people stopped and searched. Also, since 1998 333 black people have died in police custody and no police have been convicted. This history of police records gives a clear understanding as to why the riots are justified. With statistics like these the community has a relevant explanation as to why they should not put their trust in the police. Also this will continue to cause a negative relationship between black teenage boys and the police.
